WANDERING FACTORY 798

Beijing’s Factory 798 is the epicentre of China’s white-hot contemporary art scene. It’s located on an enormous former military-industrial site in the thick of Beijing’s urban sprawl. Artists, designers and other creatives have taken over the various Bauhaus-influenced warehouses and buildings to display their work - there are 100+ galleries, showrooms and design shops on the site at present. A fabulous and inspiring place to get lost for a day. The art is certainly interesting, though I found myself just as intrigued by the site itself - hulking industrial machinery, rusting boilers, cranes and chimneys are scattered throughout. Love that kind of stuff.
